Scout Consumption Pricing

Written by Harmonic Team

Why Scout has consumption-based pricing

We've been thrilled at how valuable Scout has become in our customer's daily workflows, and it's clear to us that Scout can be doing so much more. Providing Scout's level of intelligence requires combining the top frontier models, our proprietary dataset and the data you bring to Scout. Our roadmap is focused on making Scout more automated, agentic, and embedded in wherever you work.

Absent consumption pricing, shipping this roadmap could expose us to unlimited compute costs, so we need to limit customers at reasonable per-user consumption levels and provide the option to pay for increased use. We've also added controls for admins to monitor and manage that spend.

How it works

Every query sent to Scout is measured in tokens. You'll find that Scout is priced comparably to frontier models, at $5 per million Input tokens and $25 per million Output tokens.

Tokens aren't user friendly, so we convert all token use into dollar amounts called "Usage Credits" and provide visibility and control around your credits consumption.

Token use varies a lot based on the query, and you should base assumptions off of your own queries, but we did run some tests to give you a sense of the credits required to do different things in Scout today. For example:

  • Founder screener or meeting prep ~$1-2

  • Company / people search: ~$2-3

  • Deep talent bench analysis: ~$3-5

  • Complex market map / landscaping: ~$3-7

Credit Limits Per User

Each Harmonic user currently can use up to the below limits for free:

  • $250 of credits per day

  • $500 of credits per week

  • $750 of credits per month

We set this budget by picking a number that no users hit in the initial months after we launched Scout 2.0 with highly agentic reasoning, but before we enabled automated Scouts. We're not saying it's impossible to hit these limits without automated Scouts, but it's extremely rare.

Credit Limits on Scout via API

Anyone can test the endpoint and use up to $250 of credits for free. If you want to use more than the free allotment you can buy Usage Credits.

Purchasing Usage Credits

The simplest way to buy Usage Credits is via credit card at Settings > Billing. You’ll also see your paid Usage Credit balance, and your Usage Credit purchase history.

Today, we can’t automatically top up your credits, but we plan to provide that option in the future.

If you’re using large volumes of Usage Credits, ie. around $1,000 of paid credits / month, you should talk to your AM about purchasing them up front on invoice to unlock savings.

Monitor and Manage Scout Usage

Admins have control and visibility into your spend, including the ability to set monthly limits, view per run costs, and more.
