What are skills?

A skill is a reusable prompt that tells an agent how to perform a specific task.

Why use skills?

If you want to run your prompt recurringly, make it a skill. Save it once and run it anytime with a /command.

Get started

  1. Click the + button in Scout chat and select Use skill → Create new skill.

  2. Add a name, trigger command, and prompt for the task Scout should perform.

  3. Once saved, type the command in the chat (e.g., /market-map) and run it.

Share skills with your team

All skills start as personal skills. You can select Share with team once the skill has been created.

Visibility and access

  • Personal skills are enabled by default. They appear in your /command dropdown, and Scout can use them automatically when relevant.

  • Team skills must be added to your account before they can be used. To enable a team skill, click the “+” icon in the Team tab on the Manage skills page.

  • Disabled skills won’t appear in your dropdown, can’t be called with a slash command, and won’t be used automatically by Scout. Any skill can be turned off at any time.

Anatomy of a great skill

A skill prompt should include:

  • Search criteria. What to look for (sector, stage, geography, keywords)

  • Filters and constraints. What to include or exclude

  • Output format. How you want results presented (table columns, sort order, level of detail)

  • Data details. What extra data to pull (funding details, founder backgrounds, connections)
