How frequently is data updated in Harmonic's database?

Data quality and freshness are core to our platform and our promise to our customers. We structure both company and people data into cohorts to ensure efficient updates, while any enrichment request will trigger immediate processing regardless of cohort. Here's our framework for maintaining data freshness:

Company freshness

  • Any startup*

  • Any company with funding

  • Any companies in Company Lists

2-week freshness

2-month freshness

* A company is deemed a startup if:

  • it has a likelihood of backing

  • it has received venture funding

Company Enrichment Requests

When any customer makes an enrichment request for a company, the data will automatically get refreshed if more than 2-weeks stale. If we see significant enrichment volume for a “non-startup”, we will add it to our queue of companies refreshed on a bi-weekly cadence.

Additional Company Data

Data we update on slightly different cadences are:

  • Headcount: updated once weekly for all companies (not just startups)

  • Website traffic: updated once monthly

Note: Companies that don't meet the criteria above are bucketed into Cohort 3. Cohort 3 is refreshed after processing the prioritized Cohorts 1 and 2. Therefore, some data across non-startups will be more than two weeks stale.


People freshness

Note: While we target the People Freshness SLAs outlined below, we are unable to guarantee People Freshness for individuals with non-public Linkedin Profiles. To determine if an individual's profile is non-public, please refer to their person profile in Harmonic or our People Enrichment Fields via API.

  • Prior VC-backed founders

  • Stealth founders

  • High-signal founders, operators, and executives in tech/startups; algorithmically curated based on engagement and relevant people demographics

2-week freshness

Cohort 1

  • Any people in People Lists
    (excluding network lists and lists >140K)

  • Person enrichment requests via API

1-month freshness

Cohort 2

  • Any remaining LinkedIn connections
    (from network lists)

  • Specific employees at Cohort 1 companies:

    • Operators and executives 1-5+ years in current role

    • Individuals in an Engineering or Product Role for 2+ years at the top 5,000 Cohort 1 companies

4-month freshness

Note: People who don't meet the criteria above are bucketed into Cohort 3. Cohort 3 is refreshed after processing the prioritized Cohorts 1 and 2. Therefore, some data across people will be more than four months stale.

People list size limits

Individual people lists exceeding 140,000 entries will not receive Cohort 1 freshness and will default to Cohort 2 freshness (4-month SLA). To maintain the 1-month freshness SLA, keep individual lists under 140,000 people.

People enrichment requests

Profiles fetched through API enrichment will be no more than 30 days stale. If a requested profile is staler than that, its contents will be refreshed, and you should re-request the record in 1-2 hours.
